Peary Mohon Debbarman

Peary Mohon Debbarman ( PM Debbarman ; born February 6, 1887 in Agartala , Tripura , † January 8, 1925 in Lucknow , Uttar Pradesh ) was an Indian botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is “ Debb. ".

Live and act

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, Debbarman worked from 1913 as a curator in the herbarium of the Indian Botanical Garden in Haora , which is part of the government institution Botanical Survey of India . In 1920 he became a Fellow of the Linnean Society .

Debbarman wrote scientific articles on the red-flowered water lily Nymphaea rubra and on several newly discovered Indian plant taxa, including on the presumably extinct species Sterculia khasiana , which were published in the Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society , in the Journal of the Indian Botanical Society , in the Report of the Botanical Survey of India , the Journal of Heredity and the Proceedings of the Linnean Society .
