Pebble Beach Golf Links is a golf course in Pebble Beach , California , USA . It is owned by the Pebble Beach Golf Company, which also operates three other golf courses in the Pebble Beach community.

Pebble Beach is often considered one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world due to its location right on the cliffs of 17-Mile Drive . At the same time, the green fee of 550 US dollars is one of the highest in the world.

history

The course was designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant and opened on February 22, 1919. The aim of the golf architects was to place as many holes as possible on the stony coastline.

Tournaments

The first professional tournament on the course was the Monterey Pensinsula Open in 1926. Harry Cooper won the tournament with 293 strokes. In 1929 a major tournament was held for the first time, the United States Amateur Championship . The tournament was won by Harrison R. Johnston . The US Amateur was held in 1947, 1961 and 1999, and the US Women's Amateur took place in Pebble Beach in 1940 and 1948.

From 1947 the Bing Crosby National Pro-Am Tournament was held in Pebble Beach, now known as the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am . However, only the fourth round takes place exclusively on the Pebble Beach Golf Links, the first three rounds are completed alternately on the Spyglass Hill Golf Course , the Poppy Hills Golf Course and the Pebble Beach Golf Links. The US Open has been held here six times so far.
