Pedro Guevara (born June 7, 1989 in Mazatlán , Sinaloa , Mexico ) is a Mexican professional boxer and current WBC world light flyweight champion .

Professional career

Guevara made his professional debut against his compatriot Gabriel Lopez in 2008 victorious. On December 18, 2010 he won the WBC silver title when he knocked out the Colombian Karluis Diaz in the third round. In the following year he defended this belt with a draw against Mario Rodriguez, won the vacant North American Championship (NABF) with a technical knockout victory over Jorle Estrada and defended this belt by giving up in the 5th round against Manuel Jimenez .

On May 19, 2012, he defended his NABF title for the second time against Jose Guadalupe Martinez. In the same year he competed against John Riel Casimero for the IBF world championship belt and lost just on points. In 2013 he won and defended the vacant WBC silver title for the second time. At the end of December 2014 he was allowed to box against the former WBC world champion Akira Yaegashi for the vacant world champion belt of the WBC and was able to defeat him in the 8th round by knockout. In 2015 he defended this title twice, once with a technical knockout in round 1 and once over 12 rounds on points.
