The Peeler Bluff is striking rock cliff on half of the west coast of the McNamara Island in Abbot Ice Shelf off the Eights Coast of the West Antarctic Ellsworthlands .
This area was explored in February 1961 by the crews of the icebreakers USS Glacier and USS Staten Island . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the cliff in 1962 after Lieutenant Commander James C. Peeler of the United States Navy , who camped here between February 7 and 9, 1961 to determine the position of various geographic objects.
