Peggy Norman , also Peggy Norman-Szekely , actually Ibolya Székely (born September 18, 1911 , † 1933 in the United Kingdom ) was a Hungarian film actress .

Life

In 1926 the Hungarian director Béla Gaál brought her in front of the camera for the first time for his film Rongyosok , she mostly played Higher Daughters . She soon gained international fame. In 1927 she first had contact with a German-speaking director, Hanns Schwarz . In 1928 she was brought to Germany by the director Géza von Bolváry . This was followed by the films Das Haus ohne Mann with Ossi Oswalda and Mutterliebe with Henny Porten . In the film The Competition Bursts (1929) she first appeared under her stage name Peggy Norman , which she kept until the end of her career. The switch to sound film was easy for her, and she was given more important roles. One of her best-known films is Der Zinker , the early film adaptation of Edgar Wallace's novel of the same name , in which she plays the leading role. Her last film was Der Herr Finanzdirektor . In the Third Reich , she was probably unable to continue her film career due to her origins. It was quickly forgotten; when she died unexpectedly in the UK in 1933 , hardly anyone took any notice.
