The Penhale peak is around 1600 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . On the north side of the Taylor Valley it rises 1.3 km east of Mount Torii and immediately north of the western end of the Hoare Lake .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1997 after the biologist Polly A. Penhale of the National Science Foundation , who was there from 1986 in the office for polar programs .
