Mount Torii

Mount Torii is a prominent and cliff-like mountain in East Antarctica Victoria Land . On the north side of the Taylor Valley it rises above Lake Hoare and Lake Chad between the Suess and Canada glaciers .

The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1997 after the Japanese geochemist Tetsuya Torii (1918-2008), who had led Japanese teams in 20 campaigns between 1963 and 1987 for the geochemical investigation of the lakes and ponds in the Antarctic dry valleys .
