The Pentou River (also: Penton River ) is a tributary of the Hampstead River in the north of Dominica in the Parish Saint Andrew .
geography
The Pentou River is the longest tributary of the Hampstead River. It rises in the foothills of the Morne Diablotin at approx. 400 m above sea level . It flows steadily to the north and takes in some streams from the Hampstead Ridge from the east , passes Wind Blow and runs parallel, but strongly meandering, to the small Belibu River in the lower reaches , and then near the coast, to about 30 m into the Hampstead River flow out. The river is about 9.3 km long. In the headwaters in the east the catchment area of the Mamelabou River (Hodges River) connects . In its course it mostly crosses the Northern Forest Reserve .
