Per Axel Lundgren

Per Axel Lundgren , also led under PA Lundgren (born July 3, 1911 in Västra Harg , Sweden ; † September 27, 2002 in Arlöv , ibid) was a Swedish film architect .

Live and act

Lundgren received his artistic training in Stockholm and began his professional career as a theater painter in the early 1930s. In 1934 he made his film debut as a set painter. In 1943 he was promoted to film architect and in this role designed most of his country's key feature films for over three decades. For many years he worked with the most important Swedish directors, including Hasse Ekman , Gustaf Molander , Ingmar Bergman , Arne Mattsson , Vilgot Sjöman and Jan Troell . "Most important are his designs for Bergman's sparse-brittle film introspections of the 50s and 60s." In 1974 he received the Guldbagge Special Prize for his equipment for the previous film "A Handful of Love". At the age of 70, Lundgren withdrew into private life.
