Pereskia aureiflora is a species of plant in the genus Pereskia from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet aureiflora means "with golden yellow flowers". Portuguese common names are “Facho” and “Ora Pro Nobis de Mata”.

Pereskia aureiflora grows tree-like to shrubby with upright to overhanging branches and trunks of up to 20 centimeters in diameter. It reaches heights of up to 6 meters. The different large and shaped leaves are stalked, obovate to elliptical. The leaf blade is up to 11 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide. The pinnate leaf veins have 3 to 7 side branches. The midrib protrudes from the bottom. The up to 3 thorns on the areoles of the branches, which can also be missing, are 1 to 3 centimeters long. Up to 35, up to 1 to 3 centimeters long thorns arise from the areoles of the main shoots.

The yellow, single, terminal flowers are clearly stalked and reach a diameter of 4 centimeters. Your bracts are spread out or bent back. The spherical fruits are reddish green to brownish when ripe and have a diameter of 1 to 2 centimeters.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Pereskia aureiflora is common in the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais and Bahia at altitudes of 170 to 920 meters. It was first described in 1979 by Friedrich Ritter .

Pereskia aureiflora was in the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN in 2002 as " Vulnerable (VU) , d". H. classified endangered. After the revision of the 2013 list, the species will be classified as " Endangered (EN) ", i. H. listed as endangered.
