Pereskia sacharosa is a species of plant in the genus Pereskia from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet sacharosa means 'Argentine dog rose'. Spanish common names are "Cuguchi", "Guyapa" and "Sacharosa".

Pereskia sacharosa grows tree-like or shrubby and reaches heights of 2 to 7 meters. The outermost branches often grow in a zigzag . The stalked leaves are very variable in shape and size. The mostly obovate leaf blade is often folded along the midrib. It is 3 to 12 inches long and 2 to 7 inches wide. The pinnate nerve of the leaf blade has four to six lateral nerves. The midrib protrudes from the underside of the leaf. On the twigs there are up to five, very strong, in clusters or spread out thorns, which are 1 to 4 centimeters long, per areole . Up to 25 thorns with a length of 3 to 5 centimeters are formed on the trunk per areole.
The different pink flowers appear individually or are terminally in inflorescences of two to four flowers. They reach a diameter of 3 to 7 centimeters. The pear-shaped to almost spherical, green or yellowish, fleshy fruits have a diameter of 4 to 5 centimeters.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Pereskia sacharosa is widespread in southwest Brazil , eastern Bolivia , Paraguay and northwest Argentina at the foot of the Andes in the Gran Chaco .
It was first described in 1879 by August Grisebach . A synonym is Rhodocactus sacharosa (Griseb.) Backeb.
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
