Pereskiopsis gatesii is a species of plant in the genus Pereskiopsis from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Pereskiopsis gatesii grows as a shrub with slightly spread, light green to grayish, woody shoots that reach lengths of 2 to 3 meters with a diameter of up to 1.5 centimeters. The obovate leaf blade of the sitting, green and bare leaves is pointed at the tip. It is up to 2.5 inches long. The circular, dark areoles are covered with long, dark brown glochids . The gray to almost black thorns are occasionally provided with a paper-like covering and up to 2.5 centimeters long.
The light yellow flowers reach a diameter of 2 to 3 centimeters. The deep red fruits are up to 2 inches long.
Distribution and systematics
Pereskiopsis gatesii is common in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur . It was first described in 1932 by Edgar Martin Baxter .
