Peritrechus nubilus is a bug fromthe Rhyparochromidae family .
features
The bugs are 4.8 to 5.7 millimeters long. Species of the genus Peritrechus have only one or two spurs on the thighs ( femora ) of the front legs. As with the genus Scolopostethus , they have a pale spot on both sides of the pronotum , which is partly not easy to see. The species is similar to Peritrechus geniculatus , but its third antennae is thinner than the first and the pronotum is more square. In addition, the pattern on the upper side of the body is usually a little stronger and there is a pale point at the base of the membranes of the hemielytres . Peritrechus gracilicornis has predominantly pale colored splints ( tibia ) on the hind legs.
distribution and habitat
The species is distributed from North Africa, the Mediterranean region to the south of Scandinavia and east to the west of Siberia and the Caspian region. It is widespread in Germany and less common in the south than in the north. In Austria it is only widespread locally. It is the second most common species of the genus in Central Europe after Peritrechus geniculatus . In Great Britain it is widespread locally in the counties bordering the coast to the south and east. As with Peritrechus geniculatus, various open to partially shaded habitats overgrown with grass are populated, but preference is given to more humid habitats such as the banks of bodies of water, wet meadows, forest edges, but also cultivated land. The species is only rarely found on dry, sandy soils and, in eastern Central Europe, also on salt soils.
Way of life
It is not known whether they are tied to specific food crops.
