Perplexer (born June 8, 1970 ; civil: Marc Olbertz ) is a German DJ and interpreter in the field of techno and dance music . He is best known for his many remixes and the single Acid Folk , a techno instrumental with bagpipe sounds.

Life

Marc S. Olbertz is a trained laboratory assistant, but gave in to his preference for online computer games , worked at Wings Simulations as Head of Community Management and Musical Director from 2001 until the studio was closed, and was responsible for JoWooD's forums under the name Plex as Community Manager . Since 2005 he has worked under the pseudonym Vaneck as World of Warcraft's German-speaking Community Manager for Blizzard Entertainment . Since 2009 he has been working as eSports Manager, Europe at Blizzard Entertainment.

Career

Acid Folk was released at the end of May 1994 under the stage name Scottish Pipes on the sampler Bravo Hits 7 , but the well-known and successful version is the vocal mix edited by the producer team Andreas Schneider and Uwe Papenroth as well as Alexander Breuer. This version climbed to number 5 in the German charts in the summer of 1994.

The second single Da capo , this time by Schneider, Papenroth, Arndt Meyer-Wegner (today DJ Delicious) and Ramon Zenker , which contains the fanfare motif from Richard Strauss ' Also sprach Zarathustra , was able to reach the German top 10.

Three other singles ( Church of House , Love Is in the Air and Kung Fu Fighting ), u. a. produced by Mark 'Oh , could no longer build on the success. The album Acid Folk - The Album was only moderately successful.

In 2000 the single Acid Folk 2000, produced by Schneider and Zenker, was released as a cover version of the dance project Kosmonova . The new version was adapted to the current listening habits at the time. In total, Perplexer was able to sell over 1.2 million records.
