Persabus , also Persabuss , is a village in the northeast of the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . Administratively it belongs to the Argyll and Bute Unitary Authority . Persabus can be reached via a junction from the A846 , the main road on the island, which connects the two ports of Port Askaig and Port Ellen . The single-lane road then continues to Bunnahabhain . Port Askaig is about a kilometer to the east, Bowmore , the island's main town, 13 kilometers to the southwest. In 1841 Persabus had 20 inhabitants. Ten years later, the population was almost unchanged at 22. Persabus is not listed separately in the current census data. The few buildings in Persabus are now used for tourist purposes. There are holiday apartments and a pottery.

A few hundred meters northwest of Persabus are the remains of a dun on a hill . The fortification wall, which is still up to a height of around 50 cm, encloses an area of 10 m × 8 m. The entrance was in an east-southeast direction. Directly beyond the former border wall between Persabus and the neighboring Keills are the ruins of a chapel and the shaft of a Celtic cross , which probably dates from the 14th-15th centuries.
