Peruvian Airlines was a Peruvian regional airline based in Lima and based at Jorge Chávez International Airport .

history

Peruvian Airlines was founded in 2007, but licensing took place two years later. It first offered flights to various domestic destinations. When the company started operations in 2009, it only owned four aircraft , and later the fleet grew steadily.

In August 2011, due to massive safety concerns, a flight ban of 90 days was imposed on the company in order to have defects rectified. This was preceded by an emergency landing and an incident in which an engine on a parked machine fell off without any external influence.

On October 21, 2011 Peruvian received new licenses and then operated their Boeing 737-300s again, while the company's Boeing 737-200s remained grounded. At the beginning of 2012, the Boeing 737-200s were finally put back into operation.

In 2013, the company made it to the top 10 best airlines in South America (SkyTrax) and was nominated as the second best regional airline on the continent (Skytrax).

On October 4, 2019, flight operations were suspended due to insufficient liquidity. This came after the Peruvian customs authorities accessed the company's bank accounts and froze them. At that time, four B737-300s, two B737-300 (QC), one B737-400 and five B737-500 were in use for passenger flights.

Destinations

From its base in Lima , Peruvian Airlines offered domestic flights to and between Arequipa , Cusco , Iquitos , Huancajo , Pucallpa , Piura , Tacna and Tarapoto . La Paz in Bolivia was added to the network at the end of 2014 as the first international destination . In addition, destinations in the codeshare agreement with StarPerú were also offered.
