The Landesmusikgymnasium Rheinland-Pfalz ( Peter-Altmeier-Gymnasium ) based in Montabaur is the only school of its kind in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . The aim of the school is, in addition to acquiring the general university entrance qualification, to provide musical training that enables them to study music.
history
The Peter-Altmeier-Gymnasium Montabaur was an advanced high school until 1999. From 1991 the first music students came to the fifth grade, this first year of music students graduated from high school in 2000.
graduation
The students receive a high school diploma as well as a certificate of their musical skills. The Abitur examination in the major subject music comprises the sub-areas of music history, theory and aural training as well as a graded examination in singing and / or on the instrument.
Boarding school
There are 80–90 boarding places available. Practice rooms with pianos and leisure rooms are available in the boarding school. The boarding school students go home every weekend.
Support association
The association of alumni, friends and sponsors of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Music High School, Peter-Altmeier-Gymnasium Montabaur eV has around 350 members. He cultivates the connections between alumni , parents and former teachers. The collected donations are used to finance various projects and purchases by the school. Ulrich Schwark is the head of the association.
