The Peter-Breuer-Gymnasium (PBG, spelling also "pbg") is a Catholic school in Zwickau .

The training leads to the Abitur in eight years (grades 5 to 12) , in lower secondary level there are three classes .

history

The grammar school , which is sponsored by the Dresden / Meißen diocese , was founded in 1994 following a citizens' initiative. In 2003 the school received a modern sports hall in connection with a parking garage. An extension followed in 2017, consisting of a cafeteria, lounges and classrooms as well as a roof terrace.

The school is named after the Saxon carver and sculptor Peter Breuer (around 1472–1541), a student of Tilman Riemenschneider .

The grammar school comprises three building complexes on both sides of Georgenstrasse:

  • the main building erected in 1893 ,
  • the "villa" as an auxiliary building with course rooms for teaching in upper secondary level and a studio for art classes;
  • another building complex, consisting of a gymnasium , school library and school chapel. It also contains a parking garage and a branch of the Volksbank Zwickau.

The high school is located on the western edge of Zwickau's city center and is connected to local public transport .

School club

In 1993, the registered school association for the Christian grammar school was founded in Zwickau . With membership fees and donations, it finances new acquisitions of teaching and learning materials, events, working groups and the school library . The association also supports students in financial distress.
