Peter-Josef Keßler

Peter-Josef Keßler (born September 25, 1905 in Raßweiler , † July 4, 1988 in Münster ) was a German theologian .

Life

He studied scholastic philosophy in Innsbruck (Dr. phil. Schol. Innsbruck), law in Berlin and Bonn (1932 Dr. iur. Utr. Bonn) theology in Innsbruck and Trier and from 1936 to 1939 canon law in Rome (1940 Dr. iur. can. Rome). From 1940 to 1944 he was examining magistrate and prosynodal judge at the Episcopal Office in Trier. From 1944 to 1947 he was pastor in Oberkail . In 1947 he helped set up the Canonical Institute at the LMU Munich . After graduating as Dr. theol. 1947 in Munich and the habilitation in 1947 for the subject canon law by the theological faculty of the LMU Munich he became in 1947 private lecturer at the LMU Munich. In 1948 he became associate professor for ecclesiastical legal history at the Canonical Institute of the LMU Munich. In 1949 he became a full professor for canon law in Münster with a research focus on legal history. In 1971 he retired .
