Peter Alexander von Itzenplitz married Henriette Charlotte von Borcke on September 23, 1792 and thus took over Kunersdorf Castle near Bliesdorf from his wife . For the time being, the couple stayed on the man's estate in Havelland, but shortly after the wedding they undertook a trip of more than a year to Holland and England to study the agricultural conditions there.

From 1794 to 1804 Itzenplitz was then district administrator of the Havelland district. In the house of his mother-in-law, Frau von Friedland, in Kunersdorf, he met Albrecht Daniel Thaer , with whom he became friends and whom he brought to Möglin in 1804 .

In 1810 Itzenplitz was appointed the secret council of state and general manager of the domains and forests . He held this office for four years. A year later he was raised to the rank of count.

From 1815 he lived mainly on Gut Kunersdorf. Even before the relevant legislation was passed, he converted the usual services of his farmers into “moderate taxes on money and grain”.

He was buried in the hereditary funeral of the von Lestwitz-Itzenplitz family in Kunersdorf . Christian Daniel Rauch created his grave monument .

His son Heinrich August Friedrich (1799–1883) took over the rule after his father's death and later became Prussian Minister of Commerce.
