Peter Biebl

Peter Biebl (* 28. June 1937 in Augsburg ; † 30th August 2006 in Ulm ) was a German CSU - local politicians . From 1977 to 1995 he was Lord Mayor of the major district town of Neu-Ulm.

Life

After high school in Augsburg Biebl was initially trained for editor and studied 1959-1962 Jura . He passed the second state examination in 1967 and received his doctorate in the same year . In the following ten years he worked in various ministries in Bavaria.

Lord Mayor

Biebl was elected Lord Mayor of Neu-Ulm on June 19, 1977 and confirmed in office in 1983 and 1989. In the first few years, the eight formerly independent municipalities that were incorporated between July 1, 1972 and June 1, 1977 were integrated. He was instrumental in promoting cooperation with the city of Ulm , for example through the joint Baden-Württemberg state horticultural show in 1980 and the establishment of Stadtwerke Ulm / Neu-Ulm (today: SWU GmbH). The city's acquisition of large areas of land used by the US Army until 1991 and the establishment of the Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences fell during his last term of office.

Before him, Dietrich Lang headed the city from 1961 to 1977. His successor was Beate Merk from 1995 to 2003 .
