Peter Bossaerts

Peter L. Bossaerts (born January 10, 1960 in Belgium ) is a Belgian-American economist . He is considered one of the pioneers and leading researchers in the field of neuroeconomics .

Life

Peter Bossaerts grew up in Belgium and studied from 1977 to 1982 at the Universitaire Faculteiten Sint-Ignatius Antwerp (today University of Antwerp ), where he received his doctorate in applied economics . After completing a master’s degree in statistics at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel , he obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California in Financial Management .

He began his academic career as a research fellow at Carnegie Mellon University , where he worked as an assistant professor of finance from 1986 to 1990 . He then moved to the California Institute of Technology as an assistant professor , where he became an associate professor in 1994 and a full professor in 1998 , before being appointed dean . From July 2006, Peter Bossaerts completed a one-year sabbatical at the Swiss Finance Institute as a visiting professor for the HEC Lausanne . Since July 2007 he has been a full professor at the Swiss Finance Institute for the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne .

Peter Bossaerts is considered one of the greatest experts in empirical finance . He has published numerous scientific articles in well-known journals such as Econometrica , Journal of Finance , Journal of Financial Economics and Review of Financial Studies . He summarized his research results and scientific contributions in the book "The Paradox of Asset Pricing", first published in 2002.

Peter Bossaerts is married with two children and currently lives in Switzerland .
