Martin Kove (born March 6, 1946 in New York City ) is an American actor .

Life

Kove was born in Brooklyn and began his acting career in 1970 with an uncredited minor role in Alan Arkin's comedy Little Murders . Until the mid-1970s he only played in small roles before he was given a major supporting role in the B-movie Frankenstein's death race alongside Sylvester Stallone and David Carradine . As a result, he had guest roles in various television series , mainly in crime series . In the series Cagney & Lacey he played Detective Victor Isbecki in 104 episodes from the first season in 1982 until its termination in 1988.

In 1984 he played the karate teacher John Kreese in the blockbuster Karate Kid . He repeated this role of the film villain , through which he became known in the German-speaking audience, in two sequels in 1986 and 1989. He had another appearance in a blockbuster in 1985 in Rambo II - The Order . Also in the 1990s, Kove had guest roles in various successful series formats. His feature film roles, however, were increasingly in the B-movie and most recently in the direct-to-video area.

Kove is divorced and has two sons. He holds the black belt in kendo and karate .
