action
North America in 2000: A financial crisis and a military coup led to the downfall of the United States. In their place, the fascist dictatorship of the "United Provinces" arose. Under the leadership of an autocratic president, their one-party system has brought about the unification of church and state. In order to make the proletarian masses docile, they are kept happy with TV programs that glorify violence. The highlight is the annual “Transcontinental Road Race”, in which the teams don't just race against time. There is also a bonus for killing passers-by, which depends on the sex and age of the victims. The celebrated driver Frankenstein is considered a man in the government and has no idea that his co-driver Annie is a member of a resistance movement that seeks his life in order to sabotage the race. However, Frankenstein is not a puppet of the system and has plans of his own. He asserts himself against the competing drivers and the resistance movement and wins the race. When the president congratulates him on his victory, Frankenstein kills him and takes his place. He marries Annie and abolishes the death race.

Reviews
“A cheap version of the film“ Rollerball ”made a year earlier, thought of as a“ utopian satire ” , which draws on imaginative driving shots and, on a trivial level, combines futuristic elements with references to the present in an understandable way. Such critical approaches are of course drowned in brutality, cynicism and thrills. "
