Peter Dagn
Peter Dagn (born February 1, 1847 in Buchbach near Mühldorf am Inn , † January 22, 1921 in Dillingen an der Donau ) was a German church painter.
Life
Peter Dagn was born in Buchbach near Mühldorf am Inn. His father was Heinrich Dagn (1808–1890), a former student of Sebastian Rechenauer the Elder. Ä. and church painter who worked mainly in the Kraiburg area in the late 19th century .
Peter Dagn was married to Josefa Brutscher (1857–1927). Their parents were the turner Johann Brutscher and Creszenz Haberreiter from Schwabmünchen .
From 1879 Peter Dagn lived and worked with his family in Dillingen in the Hafenmarkt 5 building. In 1887 he was granted citizenship. The couple had a daughter (* 1882) and four sons (* 1880, 1885, 1888, 1892). His son named Karl Leonhard Dagn (1888–1908) was also a church painter.
Peter Dagn was a war participant in the Franco-German War of 1870/71 - this may have something to do with his preference for battle paintings. He mainly worked as a church painter and made copies of paintings.
