Peter Derschka (* 1948 in Konstanz ) is a German entrepreneur, business journalist and painter.

Career

Derschka graduated from the Heinrich-Suso-Gymnasium Konstanz in 1967 . He then went to study business administration at the University of Stuttgart , then moved to the University of Konstanz , where he first studied philosophy, then sociology with the minor subjects economics and psychology. He finished his studies with a master's degree , licentiate in philosophy and business administration (VWA) . In 1978 he was promoted to Dr. rer. soc. PhD .

Professional

From 1973 to 1978 Derschka worked as a research assistant at the University of Konstanz on the conception and implementation of empirical management research projects as well as in interdisciplinary social science basic and application research. These studies were funded by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft , the German Research Foundation and the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute ; For the first time they scientifically analyze industrial training measures for business executives, especially the reproducibility and learnability of leadership knowledge. Since the content of the management training courses turned out to be predominantly sociological, a survey of managers and ministerial officials determined their inclination to use sociological information in their everyday work. The latter were recorded, systematized and presented in terms of their consequences for research, teaching and management practice. In a further step, Derschka and Adolf Stöber demonstrated that social science applications can only be legitimized permanently as applied information. At the end of the research program, Derschka developed a critical organizational theory in order to use application-related theorems of social science knowledge to ward off alienation and typical deformations of consciousness in organizations.

In 1979 Derschka joined the editorial team of “manager magazin” in Hamburg; from 1984 to 1989 he was editor-in-chief of “Management Wissen”. Activities as managing director and managing partner of several agencies and consulting companies followed.

Among other things, Derschka was the publisher of the “Praxishandbuch Personal” and developed a number of customer, member and employee magazines in corporate publishing, which he oversaw as editor-in-chief.
