Peter Enders (born May 10, 1959 in Eichen ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been the district administrator of the Altenkirchen district since September 1, 2019 . From 1998 to 2019 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1977, Peter Enders studied human medicine by 1983. From 1983 to 1988 he worked as a doctor for the Bundeswehr . After completing his specialist training in anesthesiology and emergency medicine, he had been working at the Bundeswehr Central Hospital in Koblenz from 1992 , and from 1993 until he moved into the state parliament as chief emergency doctor. He is married, a Protestant and has two grown children.

Enders joined the CDU in 1991 and moved to the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament as a successor for Alfred Beth in 1998. Then he was able to win the direct mandate in the constituency of Altenkirchen (Westerwald) four times in a row .

From 1999 to 2019 Peter Enders was the local mayor of his birthplace Eichen. and since 1999 also member of the district council of the district of Altenkirchen . He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Kreissparkasse Westerwald-Sieg . He is also chairman of the friends' association of the Altenkirchen district music school and vice-president of the DRK district association and deputy chairman of the DRK hospital in Altenkirchen.

In the local elections on May 26, 2019, Peter Enders was elected as the district administrator of the Altenkirchen district with 54.9 percent of the votes cast. In this role, he succeeds his party colleague Michael Lieber . Before taking office on September 1, 2019, he left the state parliament, and was succeeded by Jessica Weller .
