Alfred Beth

Alfred Beth (born November 21, 1940 in Wittlich ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and administrative lawyer . From 1988 to 1991 he was State Minister for Environment and Health of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1960 at the humanist Friedrich-Wilhelm Gymnasium in Trier Alfred Beth graduated from 1960 to 1964 in Bonn , Freiburg and Cologne the study of law . In 1974 he became a research assistant for the CDU parliamentary group in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

Until September 13, 2006, Beth was chairman of the administrative board of Kreissparkasse Altenkirchen .

Political offices

In February 1980, Beth was appointed by Prime Minister Bernhard Vogel to the last state district administrator of the Altenkirchen district in the Westerwald and unanimously confirmed by the district council. From 1988 to 1991 he was State Minister for Environment and Health of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate under Prime Minister Carl-Ludwig Wagner . After the change of government, Beth was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament from 1991 to 1998 and deputy from 1994 to 1998. Chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

After the death of his successor Herbert Blank , Beth ran for the first primary election of the district administrator and was re-elected as district administrator of the Altenkirchen district for eight years on June 13, 1998 with 57.2% of the votes. He has been retired since September 2006.

Political party

Beth has been a member of the CDU since 1960. In addition to other leading party offices in the Koblenz district board and in the state board, he was chairman of the CDU district association Altenkirchen from 1991 to 1998.

Member of the state parliament

From 1991 to 1998 Beth was a directly elected member of the state parliament for the Altenkirchen constituency. From March 1994 to September 1998 he was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. In 1999 he was a member of the 11th Federal Assembly .

Honorary positions

From 1980 to 2010, Beth was district chairman of the DRK district association Altenkirchen. From 1994 to 1998 he was a member of the Altenkirchen district council. He is chairman of the support association of the DRK hospital in Altenkirchen and chairman of the care association of the DRK district association Altenkirchen. He is a member of the Catholic student associations KDStV Novesia Bonn and VKDSt Hasso-Rhenania Mainz in the CV. Since October 2011 he has been President of the Association of Former Members of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Parliament.
