Peter Fischer (oboist)
Peter Fischer (born December 4, 1925 in Leipzig ; † December 3, 2004 there ) was a German oboist .
Life
Peter Fischer studied oboe with Willi Gerlach at the Leipzig Conservatory until 1942 . During his studies he played as an assistant in the Gewandhaus Orchestra . From 1943 to 1945 he was drafted into military service and was taken prisoner at the end of the war. After 1945 he continued his studies in Leipzig and worked as a volunteer in the Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra .
From 1947 to 1991 he was a member of the Gewandhaus Orchestra (from 1950 as solo oboist). From 1961 to 1982 he was a member of the Gewandhaus Wind Quintet . He was also a lecturer at the Leipzig Music Academy from 1961 to 1966. His students include a. Axel Schmidt .
