Peter Friedrich Petersen

Peter Friedrich Petersen (born May 12, 1856 in Flensburg , † June 20, 1930 in Lübeck ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman and successively general superintendent of the districts Holstein (1912-1917) and Schleswig (1917-1924) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Schleswig-Holstein .

Life

Petersen was the son of a businessman of the same name and his wife Anne-Marie, b. Hansen-Biehl. He attended the old grammar school in Flensburg, studied Protestant theology and passed the first theological exam at Easter 1880. He attended the North Schleswig seminary. On November 6, 1881 he was ordained a pastor, combined with a service assignment as an adjunct in Lintrup . On August 8, 1882, he became pastor of Hvidding in the Törninglehn Provostry . On September 11, 1885, he moved to Bestoft-Tieslund . In 1890 he became church provost of the Hadersleben Propstei and chief pastor of the Marienkirche Hadersleben .

From 1906 he was part-time consistorial councilor and member of the Royal Consistory in Kiel. In 1912 he was appointed general superintendent for Holstein as the successor to the late Ernst Wallroth . In 1917 he moved to Schleswig in the same capacity. When the new church order of the regional church was passed in 1925, he retired. His successor, now with the title of bishop , was Eduard Völkel .

He was married to Johanna Ernestine Elisabeth, b. Hansen (* 1862 in Hadersleben). The historian Carl Petersen was a son of the couple, the publisher Leiva Petersen a granddaughter.
