Peter Furth (social philosopher)

Peter Furth (born July 25, 1930 in Berlin ; † June 2, 2019 there ) was a German social philosopher .

Career

Furth studied philosophy and sociology in Berlin and Frankfurt am Main. He was assistant to Theodor Adorno at the Frankfurt Institute for Social Research . Since 1973 Furth was Professor of Social Philosophy at the Free University of Berlin . There he supervised u. a. the doctoral thesis by Rudi Dutschke . He was active in the circle of friends of the SDS and the magazine Argument . On December 5th, 1998 he appeared together with Horst Mahler and Bernd Rabehl at the "Bogenhauser Talks" of the right-wing fraternity Danubia .
