Whitestown is a city in the US state of New York . Whitestown is located in Oneida County west of Utica on the New York State Thruway ( Interstate 90 ). The city has 18,667 inhabitants (as of 2010) and was named after Judge Hugh White, an early settler.
history
Settlement of the area began in 1784 and was the county's first permanent settlement. The city of Whitestown was founded in 1788 with an area of 49,000 km². Because many cities and counties were founded from Whitestown, it is also called the "mother of all cities".
The city of Paris and the city of Steuben were founded from Whitestown in 1792; the town of Cazenovia in 1793 and the town of Augusta in 1798, Utica in 1817 and the town of New Hartford in 1827.

Whitestown is to the west of Utica and is bounded to the north by the Mohawk River .
The Oriskany Creek flows through the city northwards and flows into the Mohawk River.
