Mathias Greffrath

Mathias Greffrath (* 1945 ) is a German sociologist , writer and journalist .

Life

After his military service, Greffrath studied sociology , history and psychology at the Free University of Berlin . After completing his studies, he became a lecturer at the Free University of Berlin and worked as a freelance journalist for ARD and in the features section of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit .

From 1991 to 1994 he was editor-in-chief of the Wochenpost magazine in Berlin . Since 1995 he has been writing as a freelance journalist for Die Zeit , the Süddeutsche Zeitung , the German edition of le monde diplomatique , for the daily newspaper , the magazines GEO and Theater heute : above all about the “future of work” and the effects of globalization on culture and society. He regularly writes essays for the taz column The Pothole . In addition, he is a member of the scientific advisory board of Attac and of the PEN Center Germany .
