Christiane Grefe

Christiane Grefe (* 1957 in Lüdenscheid ) is a German journalist and author of numerous non-fiction books .

After graduating from high school in 1975, she traveled through Australia and New Zealand for a year . She then studied political science , communication science and American studies at the German School of Journalism in Munich. From 1982 to 1987 she worked as a freelance writer for epd / church and radio , the Süddeutsche Zeitung and Natur, among others . After that she was editor of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit until 1990 and from 1991 to 1994 editor and reporter of the Wochenpost . From 1994 to 1998 Christiane Grefe worked for the magazine of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. She has been an editor and reporter in the Berlin office of the newspaper Die Zeit since 1999 .

The focus of her work is on ecological and social issues. For her book The Global Countdown on the effects and perspectives of globalization , written with Harald Schumann , Christiane Grefe received the 2009 The Political Book of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung .
