Peter Göbel (motor sportsman)

Peter Göbel (born April 25, 1969 in Marl ) is a German motor sportsman and entrepreneur.

Career as a motor sportsman

Peter Göbel began his motorsport career in 1992 as co-driver of Walter Röhrl at the Bavaria Rallye Historic in a Porsche 356 . In the following years 1997 he only took part in events of the historic European Rally Championship (ERC historic). He achieved his best result in this motorsport series together with Walter Röhrl in a Porsche 911 with overall victory in the 1997 San Remo Storico Rally.

From 1997 to 2001 he competed in the German Rally Championship (DRM) together with Jan Becker and in 2001 with Ruben Zeltner in a Nissan Sunny GTi-R and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V.

In 2002 he joined Matthias Kahle as co-driver in the Škoda Auto Germany works team . From 2002 to 2006, he and the team won the DRM title four times and the runner-up title once in 2003 in a Škoda Octavia WRC Evo2 and from 2005 in a Škoda Fabia WRC . In 2010, he and Matthias Kahle were able to repeat their success and won their fifth DRM championship with a Škoda Fabia S2000 .

In the following season he started with the Škoda works team in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) and finished 14th in the overall standings .

Göbel contested his last rally in 2013 with a Škoda 130 RS at the ADAC Rallye Köln-Ahrweiler , which he finished in 16th place with Kahle. Then he ended his active motorsport career.

Career as an entrepreneur

Peter Göbel founded an agency for motorsport events in 2003. The AvD-Histo-Monte winter rally and the Sauerland Klassik are organized there.
