Peter Gottwald (lawyer)

Peter Gottwald (born September 10, 1944 in Breslau ) is a German lawyer, university professor and former judge at the Higher Regional Court .

Peter Gottwald was born in Breslau and grew up in Lower Bavaria after being expelled. After graduating from the Ludwigsgymnasium in Straubing in 1963, he studied law in Munich and Berlin , which he completed with two state exams in Munich . In 1974 the doctorate to Dr. jur. utr., 1977 he completed his habilitation with Karl-Heinz Schwab in Erlangen for the subjects civil law , civil procedural law and comparative law . In 1977 he accepted a professorship at the University of Bayreuth , since 1983 he has been professor for civil law, civil procedural law and international civil and civil procedural law at the University of Regensburg . In addition, from 1981 to 1989 he worked as a judge at the OLG Bamberg from 1983 at the OLG Munich .

In 2005 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Thessaloniki . After the death of his first wife, Peter Gottwald is married for a second time and has two children. He lives in Regensburg .
