Peter Groß (politician, 1902)

Peter Gross (* 29. August 1902 in Nunkirchen ; † 29. January 1976 ) was a German politician of the SPD .

Life

Groß attended elementary school in Nunkirchen and initially worked at the Dillinger Hütte , and later until 1945 in various mines in the Saar region and in Lorraine . In 1919 he joined the free miners' association, in 1925 he founded the local association of the SPD in Nunkirchen, he was also active as a functionary and trade unionist. In March 1933, the Nazi opponent was elected to the Nunkirchen municipal council and only one month later he was taken into so-called " protective custody ". He was released after two months, but was under police supervision for a year and a half. After the end of the Nazi regime , Groß worked as an administrative clerk at the Weiskirchen administrative office and later as the manager of the workers' welfare organization in the Saar district. In 1946 he was re-elected to the Nunkircher municipal council; from 1960 to 1968 he was mayor of the municipality. From 1947 to 1955 he was a member of the Saarland state parliament . After integration into the Federal Republic of Germany , he ran again for the state parliament mandate in 1960, but initially failed. In October 1961, however, he replaced Alwin Kulawig, who had left the company. Groß was elected to the state parliament for the last time in 1965, and at the beginning of the 5th electoral term, which lasted until 1970, he acted as senior president .
