Peter Hart Burian
Peter Hart Burian (born July 18, 1943 in Hanover ) is an American classical philologist .
Life
A graduate of University High School in Iowa City, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan in 1964 , a Master of Arts in 1968 and a Doctor of Philosophy from Princeton University in 1971 . He spent his academic career at Duke University , where he worked from 1968 to 1971 as an instructor , from 1971 to 1977 as assistant professor, from 1977 to 1996 as associate professor, from 1996 to 2013 as professor of classical and comparative literature and professor of theater studies worked as a research professor from 2013 to 2015.
Burian works on Greek tragedy , especially Aeschylus and Euripides .
