Peter Heinrichs

Peter Heinrichs (born April 17, 1946 in Cologne ; † November 4, 2016 there ) was a Cologne tobacco and pipe dealer and also operator of a pipe museum in Bergheim-Niederaussem .

Heinrichs completed an apprenticeship as a wholesaler in his parents' business, which his grandfather had founded in 1908 as Heinrichs Pfeifen. After the early death of his father and internal family disputes, Peter Heinrichs left the company and started his own business in 1963 as a wholesaler for cigarettes and cigarette vending machines. In 1974 he sold his company to the Lekkerland Group in order to "retire" at the age of 30. After a short break in Marbella , Heinrichs returned to Cologne and opened the Peter Heinrichs retail store on Hahnenstrasse - The House of 10,000 Pipes . It holds around 90,000 to 100,000 pipes in every price and quality class.

Peter Heinrichs sold a proprietary branded cigarette made from pipe tobacco . Every year around 175 million cigarettes are manufactured in a factory in Belgium and sold in over 25,000 shops. In 1994 Heinrichs opened the Chateau Henri in Bergheim-Niederaußem, a pipe museum with an attached cafeteria and sales rooms. In addition to cigarettes, tobacco, pipes and cigars , Peter Heinrichs also sold spirits and coffee . Peter Heinrichs regularly organized "Smoker Meetings" and "Pipe and Cigar Seminars" and was editor of the Smoker Journal with a quarterly circulation of 20,000 copies.

In the early 2000s, the family disputes were settled and Heinrichs bought back his father's company ( Pfeifen Heinrichs am Gürzenich ).

In addition to numerous prizes and awards such as the "Golden Pipe" from the Berlin Tobacco College , he was awarded the German Trade Prize in 1996 .

Peter Heinrichs was married and had three daughters.
