Peter Kammerer (sociologist)

Peter Kammerer (born in Offenburg in 1938 ) is a German sociologist and translator who lives in Italy.

Life

Kammerer grew up in an entrepreneurial family from Offenburg and was a childhood friend of the later publisher Hubert Burda . He moved to Italy in 1962 and lives there with the actress Graziella Galvani . From 1970 to 2008 he held a chair in sociology at the University of Urbino .

Kammerer has published two political travel books about Italy. Among other things, he translated texts by Pier Paolo Pasolini into German. He translated texts by Tankred Dorst , Heiner Müller (together with Galvani), Volker Braun and Franz Xaver Kroetz into Italian. His sociological work deals with Antonio Gramsci , Alexander Langer , Heiner Müller, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Jean-Marie Straub and Franz von Assisi .
