Peter Karl Attenhofer

Peter Karl Attenhofer (born June 17, 1765 in Zurzach ; † January 28, 1844 there ; entitled to live in Zurzach) was a Swiss politician . From 1803 to 1806 he was Councilor of the Canton of Aargau .

biography

From March 22, 1798, after the resignation of the last governor during the French invasion, Attenhofer was a member of the provisional government of the city of Baden and the county of Baden . Almost a month later, on April 19, the election to the Senate of the Helvetic Republic followed . In contrast to the majority of the population, he resisted the merger of the canton of Baden with the canton of Aargau in 1802 .

After Napoleon Bonaparte had ordered the dissolution of the canton of Baden with the mediation act , Attenhofer was elected to the cantonal government on April 26, 1803. He took over the department for taxes and held this office until 1806. He was then appellate judge until 1808, then district administrator in Zurzach until 1831. He was a member of the Grand Council from 1803 to 1834.
