Johann Karl Fetzer

Johann Karl Fetzer (born September 14, 1768 in Rheinfelden ; † February 3, 1847 there ; entitled to live in Rheinfelden) was a Swiss politician . From 1803 to 1837 he was Councilor of the Canton of Aargau .

biography

The son of Franz Anton Fetzer, the land clerk of the Upper Austrian rule Rheinfelden, studied law at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg im Breisgau . He then worked in various positions in the administration in Upper Austria. After initially serving in the French army, Fetzer joined the Austrian army after the coalition wars and was on the staff of Prince Karl Philipp zu Schwarzenberg . In 1802/03 he was President of the Administrative Chamber in the short-lived Canton of Fricktal .

After the union of the Fricktal with the canton of Aargau through the mediation act , Fetzer was elected to the Grand Council in 1803 and then sent to the government. Annual, with John Duke alternately, he was the 1816-1832 Landammann before the cantonal government. From 1810 to 1829 Fetzer represented the canton of Aargau a total of ten times in the federal diets . In 1837 he resigned from the government, two years later he also gave up his mandate in the Grand Council.
