Peter Kikow

Peter Kikow (born July 15, 1944 in Eberswalde ) is a German politician ( SPD , Free Voters).

Life and work

From 1960 to 1963 Kikow did an apprenticeship, after which he worked as a welder . In 1968 he was promoted to shift supervisor, in 1973 he became department manager and in 1987 boiler attendant. From 1990 to 1993 he was chairman of the works council . In 1993 and 1994 he was responsible for metering. Kikow is married and has three children.

In 1990 Kikow was one of the co-founders of the SPD in Eberswalde and was elected to the city ​​council of Eberswalde in the same year , from 1994 to 2008 he was parliamentary group leader of the SPD. Kikow was temporarily also chairman of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Eberswalde.

In the state election in Brandenburg in 1994 , Kikow was elected to the Brandenburg state parliament as a direct candidate for the SPD in constituency 15 (Barnim III) . In the state parliament he was a member of the main committee and the committee for home affairs. Kikow was a member of the state parliament from October 11, 1994 to September 29, 1999. In the 1999 election he was defeated by Heinz Dobberstein from the PDS , in 2004 he was defeated in the constituency of Barnim I by Margitta Mächtig , also from the PDS.

In July 2008, Kikow resigned from the SPD after he was not nominated by the party for the next local elections as a candidate for the Eberswalde city council. Kikow remained an independent member of the city council until the election and then ran in the local elections as an independent single candidate, but without success. He joined the Eberswalde Free Voters in October 2008 in order to continue working on local politics.

Since June 8, 2010 he has been a member of the Committee for Budget and Finance of the Barnim District Council as a representative of the Seniors' Advisory Council .
