Peter Klein (born August 1953 in Turnau ) is an Austrian journalist and radio editor .

Life

After training as a primary school teacher, Peter Klein studied psychology and political science at the University of Innsbruck , where he received his doctorate in 1980. In the same year he came to the ORF as a freelancer , where he made a name for himself as an author of documentaries and radio plays (such as “March Movie”, together with Michael Köhlmeier ). He also worked as a university lecturer in social science.

In 1999, Klein took over the management of the “Features & Feuilleton” editorial team at the cultural channel Austria 1 (Ö1). In May 2007 he was appointed head of the “Literature, Radio Play and Feature” department. In 2014 he initially took over the management of Ö1 as program manager on an interim basis, and was officially appointed in this role in 2016. In September 2017 he was appointed program manager / channel manager of Radio Ö1. He retired at the end of July 2019. Martin Bernhofer succeeded him as Ö1 channel manager.

In addition to Richard Goll and Alfredreiber , Peter Klein had a decisive influence on the development of radio features in Austria.
