Peter Kliemann

Peter Kliemann (born July 15, 1930 in Berlin ; † January 10, 2007 in Frechen-Königsdorf ) was the former radio program director of Hessischer Rundfunk.

Live and act

As the son of the businessman August Kliemann and his wife Johanna Pfitzner, he passed the Abitur in Berlin in 1948. From 1948 to 1949 he worked as an editorial volunteer . From 1949 to 1958 he studied German and English at the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin) . He finished his studies with a doctorate to become a Dr. Phil.

In the years 1958 to 1961 he held the position of editor in the features section of the magazine Der Tagesspiegel . In 1962 he worked as a lecturer at the Free University of Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin .

From May 1, 1962, he became an editor for literature at Deutschlandfunk in Cologne . In 1967 he became head of the literature department with the areas of literature, radio plays, features and Berlin correspondence. He was appointed director of the cultural program on May 1, 1974. He reshaped this area in such a way that the cultural program was also understood as an information program.

From 1987 to 1995 Kliemann was program director of the Hessischer Rundfunk . Peter Kliemann is considered to be the decisive representative of German public radio.

Since 1964 he was married to Annelore Braun. Their daughter was born in 1967.
