Peter Löffler (director)
Peter Löffler (born September 3, 1926 in Zurich ; † July 30, 2015 there ) was a Swiss dramaturge , director and artistic director .
Life
Löffler grew up as the son of the internist Wilhelm Löffler and the younger brother of Susanna Löffler in Zurich; the oldest brother, Hans Löffler (1916–1997), was a doctor and microbiologist . He studied art history, archeology and literature in Zurich from 1946 to 1956. From 1946 onwards he had also trained as an actor for three years. From 1950 to 1961 he was dramaturge and head dramaturge at the Schauspielhaus Zürich (director: Oskar Wälterlin ), but also staged a few plays himself. He then became deputy director and chief dramaturge from 1962–65, but moved to the Akademie der Künste while Leopold Lindtberg was in charge Berlin (West) , where he was appointed head of the Berliner Festwochen in 1968 . Löffler followed Lindtberg as artistic director from January 1969 and hired the dramaturge Klaus Völker as well as the directors Max Peter Ammann as director and Peter Stein . Various quarrels about his politically progressive game plan (especially Edward Bond's " Early Morning ") led to his departure in 1970 when Harry Buckwitz took over the management. Löffler then went from 1972 to 1975 as director of the Kassel State Theater .
