Peter Lawrence

Peter Lawrence (born September 11, 1921 in Lancashire , England, † December 12, 1987 in Sydney , Australia ) was an Australian anthropologist born in England .

His main scientific work examines cargo cults in Melanesia ; his research on the population of the Madang region of New Guinea began in 1949 (example: the Yali movement ). He has taught at various Australian universities, most recently at the University of Sydney .
