Peter Littmann

Peter Littmann (born December 21, 1947 in Prague ) is a German manager and management consultant .

Life

Littmann studied mechanical engineering in Bratislava during the Prague Spring . In August 1968 he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany and initially worked as an assistant director at WDR. Littmann then studied philosophy at the University of Cologne for some time, switched to business administration and received his doctorate in 1976 at the Chair of Marketing and Trade at the University of Innsbruck .

Littmann was an assistant to the executive board, authorized signatory and director of the textile company Girmes-Werke AG from 1976 to 1978 . From 1979 to 1980 he was the general representative and managing director of Rosenthal AG . From 1981 to 1992 he worked in various positions for the Vorwerk company . He was managing director, personally liable partner, president and chief executive officer and took over the management of Vorwerk International AG, a management holding company for the international activities of the Vorwerk group. Littmann became CEO of Hugo Boss AG in 1993 , he reorganized the family business, but left it after differences with the majority shareholder Pietro Marzotto.

From 1997 to 1999 he was CEO of Wünsche AG in Hamburg, which from 1998 to 2001 also included the fashion brand Joop! belonged to. There Littmann was released without notice in October 1999, even after a dispute with Wolfgang Joop .

From February 2008 to November 2008, as a member of the Supervisory Board, he took over the interim chairmanship of the Rodenstock Group's management . Today Littmann is the managing partner of the management consulting company Brandinsider GmbH in Hamburg, which he founded.

Littmann is a member of the supervisory boards of CIBA Specialty Chemicals AG, Charles Vögele AG, Ruckstuhl AG, Haus Rabenhorst GmbH and the Rodenstock Group as well as honorary professor at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Witten / Herdecke . He is a member of the Board of Directors of Nyenrode Business University (Netherlands), a member of the Harvard University Art Museum's Visiting Committee (Cambridge, USA), as well as a member of the editorial board of the magazine sales economy and the board of trustees of the foundation for the Hamburg art collections. Littmann was the founding chairman of the cultural sponsoring working group initiated by the Kulturkreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft in the Federation of German Industry .

He is Honorary Consul of Slovakia . Littmann writes columns for the Handelsblatt on marketing.
