Peter Meier-Beck

Peter Meier-Beck (born December 19, 1955 in Düsseldorf ) is a German judge and legal scholar. He is a judge at the Federal Court of Justice and honorary professor at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf .

Life

Peter Meier-Beck studied at the University of Bonn and the University of Friborg Law . He did his legal clerkship in Düsseldorf and then worked there as a lawyer . In 1985 he became a judge at the Düsseldorf Regional Court , where he was a member of the 4th Civil Chamber of the Regional Court dealing with patent law . In 1991 Peter Meier-Beck became a judge at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court . From 1993 to 2001 he worked again at the Düsseldorf Regional Court, where he was now presiding judge of the 4th Civil Chamber. From the 1995/96 winter semester, in addition to his judicial work, he also held a teaching position at the University of Düsseldorf. In July 2000, Meier-Beck began his service as a judge at the Federal Court of Justice, where he initially worked in the Xth Civil Senate , which is responsible for patent law. On February 2, 2005, he was appointed honorary professor at the University of Düsseldorf. In September 2010 he was appointed presiding judge at the Federal Court of Justice and was assigned the chairmanship of the X. Civil Senate , having previously held the chairmanship of the Xa Civil Senate (auxiliary Senate for the X. Senate). On September 1, 2019, he took over the chairmanship of the newly created XIII. Civil Senate as well as the Cartel Senate , which previously traditionally held the President of the Federal Court of Justice, and on September 18, 2019, he resigned from the 10th Civil Senate.

Meier-Beck is married and has two children.
