Peter Moon, 4th Baron Melchett
Peter Robert Henry Mond, 4th Baron Melchett (born February 24, 1948 in London - † August 29, 2018 ) was a British peer and politician of the Labor Party .
Life
Moon of the chairman was the son (Chairman) of the British Steel Corporation Sir Julian moon and the author Sonia Melchett (now Sinclair) (* 1925) was born. He attended Eton College and the University of Cambridge , where he studied law. He graduated from Keele University with a Masters of Arts in criminology and later studied cannabis addiction at the London School of Economics . He was the great-grandson of Alfred Mond , who served as the model for the character Mustafa Mond in the novel Brave New World .
He was no longer a member of the Hereditary Peerage Association at the time of his death.
politics
After the death of his father, Mond inherited the title of Baron Melchett and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . He gave his inaugural address on January 28, 1974. After the Labor Party was re- elected in October 1974, Harold Wilson appointed Mond Lord-in-Waiting (House of Lords Whip ).
In 1975 he became Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Industry. When James Callaghan became Prime Minister in 1976, Mond was Minister of State at the Northern Ireland Office

He lost his seat through the House of Lords Act 1999 . He did not run for one of the remaining seats. He is not listed in the Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election.
Further commitment
He eventually retired from active politics and initially worked for the Ramblers' Association in 1984 before being appointed Executive Director of Greenpeace UK in 1989.
Mond was the owner of a farm covering 360 hectares . He was arrested in 1999 while participating in a demonstration by environmentalists against a study of a genetically modified crop that destroyed plants by demonstrators. Moon spent one night in Norwich Prison before being released on bail. The case went to court in 2000, and he and his 27 co-defendants were acquitted. In the same year he retired as Executive Director of Greenpeace, but remained a member of the Supervisory Board (Board) .
In 2002 he cut ties with Greenpeace when he took up a part-time job with the PR firm Burson-Marsteller . She previously worked for Monsanto Company and Mond was accused of having endangered his integrity with this position and therefore leaving Greenpeace.
Since 2002 he has been Policy Director of the Soil Association . Moon Patron was (patron) of Prisoners Abroad , a registered charity organization, the British prisoners supported abroad.
